Cheeku,
Ten years since you left. Ten long years and ten years with time standing still…what is real and what is not, I cannot even start to fathom….
A part of you is in everyone you loved…in a sudden loud laughter, in a song, in a raucous banter…you were here tonight fragmented in many who came together to celebrate your life…I heard you, I saw you, I felt you…you were here, weren’t you?
It is close to midnight…I hear dying sounds of the night…there is thunder in the sky, as if once again you are preparing to take off on your yet another celestial journey.
But inside there is silence. I wait for you to come and put your arms around my shoulders…’I hear footsteps coming down. Just that they don’t come.’
I hear Rumi whisper from across the ages:
‘Your body is away from me,
but there is a window open
from my heart to yours…’
With love and longing,
Dad
