A very happy birthday, beta. Today is your 24th birthday. I remember so well in 1982 on this day I was filled with so much anticipation and anxiety. The first born was to arrive. Little did I know then that the one to arrive would bring so much warmth and love and excitement and hope into my life. Through the years 28th June had been the day of great celebration. There had never been a year when we were not together on your birthday.
I remember so well your 21st birthday. That was a special day because I had raised the first toast of wine with you. My son had become an adult and I wanted him to be my friend….
This morning when I woke up I saw the golden orb of the sun. I could see you in it smiling and waving to me…you, the incorrigible dreamer, the prankster, the great traveller-I could see you on your journey through the galaxy, hitch hiking your way…I could hear your voice tell me of all the Yadav Dhabas that you had visited, the Alpha Beta points that you had created, the Poona trips you had replicated, the pubs you had watched the World Cup matches in…and the many thousands of Bars you had stood before and argued the cases of the less privileged…
I wish in all this that you are doing, you would get time to plead my case too with God…about how my wish that I could see you once again would be granted…
